The story behind the Creativity Explored digital pandemic archive, represented by artist-teacher duo Joseph “JD” Green and Glenn Peckman, is told in a Dropbox national advertising campaign called “All Things Worth Saving.”

The campaign also features activist and photographer Benita Nnachortam, graphic designer Dominique King, artist and producer Chaz Bear, and the United States 2020 Olympics Bobsledding Team. Each story centers on the ethos, “These aren’t just your files, these are pieces of your life.”

At Creativity Explored, we could not agree more! Every piece of art and every fuzzy screenshot of a Zoom class or virtual dance party tells a story.

The pandemic has fundamentally changed how we operate at Creativity Explored and how we document and share our artists’ work and their experiences. Since studio doors closed in April 2020, CE staff and artists have taken hundreds of photos, screenshots, audio recordings, and videos documenting our transition to a virtual studio space. We gathered and shared photos from times we were together, too.

These files, images, and recordings help us share all our successes, smiles, and discoveries. The files help us remember all the surprises along the way, our determination to be together, and the power of creativity no matter the circumstances. Our community’s courage and resilience is right there in the digital artifacts in CE’s Dropbox. We’re honored to be included in this major campaign and share the magic and ingenuity of our community with the world.

Not only does Dropbox allow us to save and cherish these moments, but easily share artwork with Professional Art Services and licensing clients, aligned with industry standards. Once art is photographed, the gallery and arts partnerships teams shares high-resolution imagery and promotional materials via Dropbox.  “When we use a tool that the rest of the design world uses, it helps professionalize our organization and the artists, too,” states Ann Kappes, Director, Arts Partnerships. The campaign touches on all these elements in the Creativity Explored customer story, available to read here.

Over the course of a few weeks, team CE along with artist Joseph “JD” Green and teaching artist Glenn Peckman, partnered with Dropbox and Instrument to share our story through video, audio, photoshoots, and of course, lots of art. Congratulations to JD and Glenn for representing CE and sharing your work together in this campaign! The campaign also features artwork by Gerald Wiggins, Camille Holvoet, Eva Jun, Pablo Calderon, Stella Tse, Melody Lima, Selene Perez, Ka Wai Shiu, Claus Groeger, and a collaborative textile piece by Miriam Munguia, Nubia Ortega, Maribel Guzman, Ethel Revita, and teaching artist Pilar Olabarria.

Working with and featuring the immense talent of Creativity Explored artists was an honor. The privilege of including Creative Explored’s art in our national advertising campaign was critical to expressing the diverse stories that live in Dropbox. The colors, textures, and compositions of their art added a whole new dimension to campaign assets like billboards and videos.

Capturing the energy and collaboration between teacher and artist, Glenn Peckman and Joseph ‘JD’ Green, was especially a delight. Art is so essential to life and partners like Creativity Explored are exactly who Dropbox strives to provide space for.
