Detail of Remember That One? by Charles Cruz © 2014 Creativity Explored, Licensing, LLC., marker and watercolor on paper, 22 X 30 inches

Creativity Explored artists use music as a source of inspiration.

In Forte, a group exhibition, Creativity Explored artists use sheet music as a source to visually interpret languages not usually intended to communicate words. By interpreting pictorial lexicons like musical notation, primarily through works on paper, artists create a new language of mark making.

At the opening reception for Forte on August 13, 2015, solo musician Danny Paul Grody will perform a unique set of guitar-based music inspired by some of the artworks in the exhibition. Grody will explore sound through the elements of texture, abstraction, and mood found in the drawings. In addition, Grody will provide a selection of recorded music that can be listened to throughout the duration of the exhibition.

Details:The Dinosaur Whith No Name Intereasting Looking and Cool [sic] by Richard Wright, 2014, colored pencil on paper, 25.5 x 19.75 in. (left); Untitled by Linda Davenport, 2015, jute and thread, 19 x 18 x 5 in., All Rights Reserved

A two-person exhibition of work by Linda Davenport and Richard Wright.

DOTS & DASHES: Another Morse Code is a two-person exhibition of work by Linda Davenport and Richard Wright. Emphasizing the formal rather than the thematic, Davenport and Wright produce work, concurrently but independently of one another, with primary elements composed almost entirely of dots and dashes.

Using jute, thread, fabric, and embroidery floss, Davenport stitches together dizzying freeform textiles that resemble kaleidoscopic circuit boards. In contrast, Wrights’ work is exclusively figurative, yet the technique he uses to create various multicolored animals and creatures on paper plainly echo the dots and dashes present in Davenport’s elaborate fabric creations.
