Keenan Dietiker

San Francisco native, Keenan Dietiker (b. 1989), believes that “when you do art, you transfer into a whole new world of beauty.” For him, this transference is inspired both by the magnificence he sees in nature, like the mountains of Yosemite National Park or the way the moon shines over the bay at night, and by political issues, like pollution and violence.

Dietiker takes great joy in creating. He is an avid poet and was already established in his style and approach to art making when he started working in the Creativity Explored Studio in 2011. Dietiker describes his works as “experiments,” most beginning by layering lines of pen and ink into complex patterns that are then accentuated by watercolor washes or bursts of acrylic color. The resulting interpretations of landscapes and dynamic abstract compositions evoke the gestural quality of Dietiker’s working process, embodying the intense movement of his hand across the picture plane.
