Over the last few years, we’ve learned that both careful planning and flexibility are key to the ongoing success and growth of Creativity Explored programs. Even after 38 years of serving neurodiverse and disabled artists, we continue to adapt, learn, and find new ways to center artists.

When planning for the future of CE we consulted with over 100 supporters, staff, board members, artists and their families. Together we created a bold vision to guide our programs to a prosperous future – one that expands our impact, focuses on enhancing program quality, and centers CE artists in all our efforts.

Our 2021-2026 Strategic Plan outlines organizational goals and key milestones. The goals focus upon outcomes that our community identified during our holistic and reflective process – expanding our commitment to advocacy within the disability community and art world, supporting the whole person through person-centered programs, and acquiring a new facility to maximize our impact and better serve our artists.

In a hundred years, we could do better. And we could just keep trying to let people know that we’re still here in San Francisco. They can still come and get great artwork and put it on their walls.
— Vincent Jackson, CE artist since 1984

CE artists remain integral to our planning processes, contributing words, ideas, and artwork to keep our community focused on what is important to us and what is important for us. As part of our ongoing work, we gave artists a list of prompts to help focus our future work, including:

  • Imagine the world in 100 years – draw or tell us what Creativity Explored will be like then!

  • Draw a vehicle that can get us all to CE to make art together.

  • Close your eyes and think about making art at Creativity Explored….What does it smell like? What does it sound like?

  • What does it feel like when you make art?

See what our artists came up with, read our goals, and download the summary of our 2021-2026 Strategic Plan including a special note from Executive Director, Linda Johnson. We look forward to seeing you in the community and updating you on our progress!
