Visit Creativity Explored at our own Ferry Building storefront this holiday season!

Each Saturday from November 27 through December 18, 2021, join Creativity Explored from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Ferry Building for a day of shopping, art activities, and contests.

Ferry Building visitors and holiday-goers are invited to explore and shop original drawings, paintings, prints, ceramics, tapestries, and one-of-a-kind fashions created by CE artists – plus, stock up on gift-giving essentials with CE wrapping paper, greetings cards, artful accessories, books, stationery, art supplies and more. As always, artists earn income directly from each sale!

In celebration of the partnership between two iconic San Francisco institutions, the Creativity Explored community will host a series of experiences at the Holiday Art Pop-Up Shop in partnership with the Ferry Building during operating hours:

  • Every Saturday, get to know a different CE artist and their artwork during casual Meet-and-Greet events. CE artists are excited to reconnect and show you what they’ve been creating!

  • Throughout December, the CE Holiday Art Pop-up Shop will also feature an art-making activity led by the Museum of Craft and Design. The activities are inspired by the Mode Brut fashion exhibit – on view through January 22, 2022 – which features original garments and fiber art by Creativity Explored artists created with local designers.

  • Every week Creativity Explored will host a free contest at the pop-up shop featuring art supplies by Sakura, Isaac Haney-Owens’ SF Icons Burnt Caramel Truffles chocolates from Recchiuti Confections, and limited-edition CE products.

Leading up to the series of pop-ups, a large-scale reproduction of artwork by CE artist Lien Nguyen (b. 1960, Vietnam) will bring a fantastical San Francisco skyline inside the Ferry Building for the public to enjoy. During the residency, the display will be viewable on the gates of the storefront from Sundays through Fridays.

No stranger to the local flavors of the Ferry Building, Creativity Explored has enjoyed over a decade of partnership with Recchiuti Confections, whose storefront boasts chocolate truffles emblazoned with artwork by CE artists. The arts licensing partnership has featured nearly a dozen seasonal designs inspired by CE artists. The newest collab features Jesus Huezo’s spooky illustrations and Isaac Haney-Owens’ fan-favorite San Francisco Icons Burnt Caramel Truffles was recently inducted as a regular item due to popular demand.

This holiday season get in the spirit of giving back at Ferry Building with the artists of Creativity Explored!

About the Ferry Building

Since 1898, the Ferry Building has stood as the gateway to San Francisco; an iconic landmark located on San Francisco’s waterfront Embarcadero. The first-floor marketplace is a destination for the local artisan food community and is home to nearly 50 restaurants, cafés, and retail shops offering a variety of foods, beverages, groceries, goods, and wares celebrating the best of the Bay Area. The magnificent, second-story Grand Hall is the entryway to two floors of 193,000 square feet of world-class office space, and the building and its plazas are adjacent to multiple transportation hubs including the recently expanded Downtown Ferry Terminal. Plentiful tables and seating combined with unobstructed Bay views make the Ferry Building’s back plaza one of the largest and most scenic outdoor dining venues in the City. The Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, operated by the Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture (CUESA), is held at the building three times each week.
