Patricia Rubio

Lead Teacher, Studio Coordinator

Staff Member since 2018

By Selene Perez

Patricia is a San Francisco-based visual artist originally from Madrid, Spain. She received her B.F.A. from Complutense University in Madrid in 2009 and a postgraduate degree in Serigraphy and Lithography from CIEC Foundation in 2010.

After moving to San Francisco in 2015, Patricia painted murals for a local startup, and she now has her own studio in the Mission, close to Creativity Explored. Her work focuses on geometric structures and the relationships between shape, color, and composition. She imagines these constructions as a way to organize thoughts and memories into spaces that are hypnotic and inviting.

Patricia began working at CE as a substitute Teaching Artist in April 2018 and became a full-time Teaching Artist in April of 2019.

Working at CE has moved me in unexpected ways and changed how I view my own profession. I didn’t know I could be so fulfilled and appreciated in a workplace. And the more time I spend with CE artists, the more I am inspired to learn, grow and be involved.
