One Two Tin by John Patrick McKenzie © 2010 Creativity Explored.
Permanent marker on laminate, 21” x 18”.

John Patrick McKenzie’s first one-person show at Creativity Explored is timed to coincide with the presentation of his work in Create!, the major survey exhibition slated to be on view at the UC Berkeley Art Museum from May 11 - September 25, 2011.

McKenzie is known internationally for his signature work that is composed of linear blocks of writing rendered in his characteristic, highly stylized looping calligraphic hand, as well as for his wryly humorous and sometimes existential commentary. His show at Creativity Explored will highlight a wide selection of art from his oeuvre, including his 3D works, Four Letter Words, Felix Gonzalez Torres, scrolls, and recent “word” pieces.

You can read the press release here.

The opening reception features live music by Danny Paul Grody.

Exhibition sponsored by Adobe.
