In fiscal year 2022 – with great care and much planning – Creativity Explored staff and artists reunited in real life to create art, host exhibitions, and celebrate.

The reopening of CE’s studio spaces was greeted with much anticipation by artists and staff alike. Our highlights of the year include the Mode Brut show at the Museum of Craft and Design, a trip to the Outsider Art Fair in New York, and our Art Changes Lives gala. Each of these events gave us ground for reconnection after a long period of virtual programming and events.

In the midst of major change, fiscal year 2022 was a year of seeds planted. We centered diversity, equity and inclusion, and we found new ways to be influenced by the dreams, plans, and hopes of our artists. We doubled down on the “practical” as we grew our finance and operations team and with it our capacity to respond to new opportunities and dreams.

Some major seeds planted in 2022:

  • We permanently instituted hybrid programming, utilizing virtual and in-person classes to accommodate different ability levels of artists and ensure the highest well-being of our entire community.

  • After 18 months of hard work, Creativity Explored's Mode Brut exhibition debuted in September 2021 at the Museum of Craft and Design. The fashion show featured designs by over 50 Creativity Explored artists, and inspired viewers to redefine "fashionable."

  • In July 2021, we launched our Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Committee. The function of our JEDI committee is aimed at amplifying the voices of CE artists of color, expanding opportunities to center the identities represented in our studio, and supporting cultural pride and allyship.
