About the Exhibition

Diving into the Creativity Explored archive of digital media, film, and animations, Beard presents an exhibition of durational media, video and digital artwork created by artists with developmental disabilities.

What You Do celebrates the artistic and collaborative processes behind CE’s digital media and animations department. CE artists have created original films, animations, digital artworks since 1999. This new exhibition includes a wide selection from the archive as well as recently completed works by current artists.

“Programs like Creativity Explored challenge received ideas about how to evaluate a work of art. Each artist I encountered was irreducible in their ways of creating, although it is clear that there is a very strong and inspiring community at Creativity Explored,” Beard reflects.

In preparation for the exhibition, CE and Beard coordinated the documentation of archival footage and artwork stored on VHS tapes in the archive. Special thanks to our partners at BAVC (Bay Area Video Coalition) for their services and assistance in the digitization process and to our in-kind sponsor, Metromile.
