Southern Exposure's 26th Annual Juried Presentation of new work, What I Like About You is the premier showcase of contemporary artwork by promising local talent. This year, artists were invited to submit moving image work for consideration by guest juror Christy LeMaster, founding director of Chicago's microcinema The Nightingale.

In conjunction with the screening, LeMaster will give a brief multi-media talk discussing the history of microcinemas in America, collaborative working structures, and creating modes of distribution outside of traditional market logic.

Tribute to Whitney Houston is a music video by a fan for the fans. In this animation video, Makeya Kaiser captures her deep love and appreciation for the pop icon Whitney Houston. Like a message in a bottle, Makeya hopes this video will begin a conversation with those who share her strong affinity for "The Queen of the Night."

In the vein of fan art, Kaiser adds her own unique twist on Whitney’s famous ballad I Will Always Love You. Each scene is a hybrid of locations combining props and costumes inspired by Houston’s video catalogue with 3D paintings of people and places in Kaiser’s own life. The result is a montage; weaving the celebrity with the fan, the private with the public, and performance with intimate moments. In Makeya’s own words, she describes the video as “a statement of her love for Whitney and Whitney’s most well known love song”
