(1) "I'm using marker and watercolor on this piece because that's what's good for this paper. These are friends at church. I just made them up."
(2) "It doesn't look like pizza, it's peanuts. If this was pizza, it would be too soggy and taste bad. It's too soggy for pizza; it looks like peanuts, peanut shells."
(3) Q: "Why do you like this one?"
YR: "Because I like it!"
Q: "You just like it, huh?"
YR: "I love it."
(4) "Paul, Amy Taub, Eric, and Leeza. I drew these with pencils with the teacher Mara. She's not here anymore. She moved. She was my friend, my best friend. But she was my teacher. But she was my friend."
(5) "I like shapes, so I make them over and over in different colors. But this one, they're all blue. They're all the same because they're blue, but they're not the same."
(6) "I want my art to make people feel stronger and better. I make bracelets and necklaces with beads for all the teachers. For other people, I make belts and scarves. They love it! And I feel better and better and better."
