Rough Cuts: Experiments in Animation is on view at our second studio, CE2, July 31 through September 10, 2015.
Curated by Visual Arts Curator, Veronica Graham, Rough Cuts: Experiments in Animation highlights each CE animator's unqiue approach to the medium. Animations are intricate endeavors with many moving parts that are slowly cobbled together and refined. In this sampling, all the bits and pieces are laid bare to reveal how the animated worlds are built from the ground up. Featured artists include: Trevor Cartmill-Endow, Kevin Chu, Makeya Kaiser, Sara O'Sullivan, and Ann Yamasaki.
Graham was brought on last year to help reboot the animation program at Creativity Explored. Graham remarks,
"The last 12 months have been intensely rewarding and creatively enriching for me as both an artist and an educator. Each artist I work with at CE has limitless imagination and I try my best to provide the technical know-how to support their vision. Although the program is still in its infancy, it is fast becoming a powerful new outlet for CE artists to express themselves and I could not be happier with the direction it is taking."
