Dear friends,
Today is my last day at Creativity Explored; tomorrow, my first day of retired life. There’s a slew of adjectives I’ve been using to try to describe how I feel about the change – excited, apprehensive, relieved, sad – but the most fitting by far is grateful.
I am tremendously grateful to have spent eighteen years working with visionary artists, supportive families, incredible staff and volunteers, dedicated board members, ardent collectors, and truly generous donors.
I’m proud to have led this organization in supporting the artists working in our studios as they have gained considerable, deserved recognition. The work of artists with developmental disabilities continues to earn critical acclaim throughout the global art world, and local artists who visit our studios routinely tell us that they admire the skill and willingness to experiment artists here display.
While earning our respected place in the art world is important to us, we know that art has intrinsic value, and that value is truly central for all artists, including, of course, artists with developmental disabilities. That value drives everything we do. When we say that art changes lives, we mean it.
What’s next for me? I don’t have it all worked out quite yet, but I’m certainly planning to stick around CE as an ever-loyal fan.
Thank you, CE community, for eighteen genuinely wonderful years.
With gratitude,
Amy Taub
Executive Director
