Mission Bay Excursion

Mission Bay Excursion

What a great trip! First we took the 22 bus to Market to catch the ‘T’ line downtown. We got off at 4th Street and King. Bertha, Jose, Lakishia, Selene, and I practiced using the new digital camera here at Creativity Explored. The sun was brilliant and the morning chill burned off, leaving a perfect day.

Our first stop was Panera Bakery. It was first class: floor to ceiling windows all around and light pouring in. Ninety-nine cent bagels! The cream cheese and hot chocolate was extra but we had saved up a little so we could afford it. I encouraged everyone to eat slowly and savor the moment. Lakishia, Selene, Bertha, and I did some sketching while we ate.

Then we strolled to the draw bridge on 4th and watched a black heron or crane dive for fish. It was very relaxing. On the third try the heron got a fish!

Next we wandered over to the Mission Bay Park to see the long line of house boats that make the canal their home. We also saw some puppies playing on the grassy knoll of the park.

The final big event was hanging in the new library there on 4th by the canal. They had so much stuff: music, magazines, books. Jose found a large graphic novel to peruse. Bertha, Lakishia, and Selene listened to different pieces of music. Bertha got a library card. Selene and Lakishia didn’t have enough official ID, so they could only take the application home.

Finally, we ate in the sun by the canal and hurried back on the ‘T’ line.
