Creativity Explored Providers’ Education Program planned for fall 2011
Did you know there are less than 30 organizations (that we know of) across the country that have a program similar to Creativity Explored? In its 27 years of existence, CE has earned a reputation as a national model program for assisting adults with developmental disabilities to establish themselves as working artists.
We are repeatedly approached by people from across the nation - and other countries - who want to improve their own program or add an art component to existing vocational services for people with developmental disabilities. As a result, for years CE has given behind-the-scenes tours of our facility, conducted informational interviews about our program, and provided sample documents for interested groups and individuals.
Based on of the large number of requests each year, CE is in the process of developing a Providers’ Education Program to be launched in fall 2011. The first year will consist of a more formalized way of sharing best practices via a “workshop” format in which CE and other providers will network, learn, teach, and share with each other. Because there is no professional national network of arts-related service providers, we also anticipate that CE’s Providers’ Education Program will help establish a formal mechanism to promote sharing and collaboration amongst arts service providers.
CE will conduct a Needs Assessment in August 2010. If you (or anyone you know) are interested in taking part in this qualitative study or would like to be included on the list of invited participants for the initial Fall 2011 workshop, please email us!
NOTE: Participants in the first year will be limited to staff of organizations implementing similar art services to Creativity Explored, and/or organizations that currently provide other services for people with developmental disabilities.
