Position Summary: Creativity Explored (CE), a 501©(3) public benefit corporation that has been in existence since 1983, is currently seeking a part-time, independent contractor to work with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to achieve the annual fund raising goal.
Background: CE is a San Francisco non-profit visual arts center where artists with developmental disabilities create, exhibit, and sell art. The primary funding source for Creativity Explored (70%) is through the State of California, via a fee for service contract with the Golden Gate Regional Center. Earned income is also provided by the sale of original works of art through CE’s gallery space. CE’s FY07 development fundraising goal is $187,500 (combination individual, corporate, and foundation giving) with annual increases thereafter. The annual agency budget is approx. $1,000,000, and the full staff size is 18. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Position Responsibilities: This position is responsible for developing and implementing the plans to meet FY07 fundraising goals ($187,500). Primary focus in FY07 will be to acquire new donors in these areas: individual, business/corporate and private foundations. A Scope of Work is available by request.
Qualifications: At least three years of increasingly responsible development work in a nonprofit agency (preferably cultural organization) is required. Other requirements include:
* Proven track record of fund raising from the above constituents
* Experience and demonstrated skill in funder research
* Experience and demonstrated success in corporate, foundation and government proposal writing
* Experience in cultivation of strategic donor relationships and corporate sponsorships
* Outstanding interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people
* Self-directed with exceptional organizational and follow-through skills
* Computer literate, including the use of computerized database systems for development, word processing and spreadsheet software
