A selection of psychedelic art from the studio at Creativity Explored will be on view in The Doors of Perception, presenting a body of work that addresses the idea of the “altered” or “revealed” mind. In the context of this exhibition, psychedelic will include very broad interpretations ranging from op-art paintings to obsessive drawings to historical references to the 60’s and 70’s cultural revolution. In addition, it will encompass responses to the current psychedelic resurgence in visual and musical practice around the world.

The exhibition was conceived in the spirit of William Blake’s statement from The Marriage of Heaven and Hell: “If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite.” The intention of the show is to expand what is embraced by the imagination and what serves as the basis of artistic practice.
