This February the UC Davis Department of Theatre & Dance will present “Fears of Your Life: Study I”, a high-energy, tragicomic, multi-sensory stage performance exploring the emotion of fear in ways we’ve never imagined. Director and choreographer Kim Epifano has collaborated with “Fears of Your Life” author Michael Bernard Loggins, and AXIS Dance Company, an acclaimed performance ensemble comprised of dancers with and without disabilities, to shine light on our fears in a groundbreaking dance/theatre production bringing together many artistic disciplines.

Integrating various forms of performance and visual art, “Fears of Your Life” is a rare fusion of dance, sound, animation, artwork, and poetry. Performers from AXIS Dance interact with moveable painted sets, giant sculptural puppet-masks, and animated video projections to a vibrant original soundscape on a gallery stage.

“Fears of Your Life” draws its inspiration from the book of the same name written by Creativity Explored artist and author Michael Bernard Loggins.

Other collaborators include multi-media sculptor Michael Stasiuk who builds life-size masks and puppets for the stage, animation designer Todd Herman who is responsible for the animation shorts of drawings from “Fears of Your Life”, and actor and mover Lloyd Ford, who reads Loggins’ words. The project is funded by the Creative Work Fund.

We hope to see you there!

“Fears of You Life” will be perfomed in early 2007 at the Yerba Center Center for the Arts.
