In celebration of Disability Awareness Month, Creativity Explored presents “Don’t Call Me Retard,” an exhibition about disability. This theme affords member artists the opportunity to give voice to the experiences, issues and daily realities of life with a disability, and will encourage the public to examine their own perceptions of this minority population. Not only will a variety of artwork concerning disability -– from prints to paintings to animation — be exhibited, but the audience will be able to read about and hear the thoughts and viewpoints of member artists. Most importantly, the audience will be encouraged to respond to what they’ve seen by recording their own thoughts, opinions, and notions relating to disabilities, making this our most interactive exhibit to date. Artists exhibited include Gordon Shepard, Thanh Diep, Warren Jee, Michael Loggins, Toby Calonico, and other member artists.
