San Francisco, April 19, 2019 - Creativity Explored, the premier nonprofit visual art studio and gallery for artists with developmental disabilities, is pleased to present Bitchin’, a two-part dog-themed exhibition for humans and dogs.

In homage to San Franciscans’ appreciation for their pets, the exhibition includes over two dozen Creativity Explored artists and their original portraits of simply good dogs. Eclectic, heartwarming and comical, Bitchin’ welcomes viewers to reflect on companionship and the joyful relationship between our species as we live our best pug-life.

The show is a celebration of the bond between species and ultimately a reflection of the artistic representation of canines, their stories, breeds, and personalities. Through original drawings, paintings, and sculptures Bitchin’ provides a platform for dogs to steal the show.

During the exhibition, part of the gallery will be transformed into a mini exhibition for your dog to enjoy mounted at dog eye-level. Because dogs love art, food, humans, (and butts) and we do too.

Throughout the exhibition, CE will be offering free treats to canine patrons. The exhibition is on view until July 1, 2019 at the 16th Street gallery. All art is available for purchase with 50% of the proceeds benefiting the artist(s) directly.

The opening reception for Bitchin’ will take place on Thursday, May 9 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Guests are encouraged to bring their dogs and join in the celebration for this free event. Take a selfie at our photo booth for humans created by CE artist and dog-lover Yukari Sakura. CE staff can assist guests in commissioning original portraits of your pet(s) by a variety of CE artists.

A VIP Donor Preview will take place from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm before the public opening. The first 50 donors in attendance will receive a “doggie-bag” with special products and gifts for art-lovers and dogs. Donors will enjoy specialty cocktails including Greyhounds and Salty Dogs and a hot dog bar. To attend the donor preview, simply make a donation of $10 or more on the CE website or Facebook page, or donate at the door.

At the opening, Creativity Explored will launch a series of new products featuring dog artwork by CE artists including enamel pins, a limited-edition frisbee, and exclusive products produced by VIDA, a zero-waste manufacturer and client of CE’s Licensing Program. The VIDA products include a luxurious modal scarf and canvas carry-all bag featuring artwork by CE artist Andrew Li.

A satellite exhibition of Bitchin’ will be on view at Humane Society of Silicon Valley located at 901 Ames Ave, Milpitas, CA 95035 from May 13 through June 29, 2019. This exhibition is open to the public during regular business hours.
