Bay Area Now 7

July 18 - October 5, 2014

Venue
Yerba Buena Center for the Arts

Location
701 Mission Street San Francisco, CA 94103

Creativity Explored artists Christina Marie Fong, Anthony Gomez, and Marilyn Wong are featured in YBCA's Bay Area Now 7 exhibition.

Through the work of artists who capture the spirit of "now," YBCA's signature triennial, Bay Area Now 7, brings to life current perspectives for both this art center and the regional art scene. In its seventh edition, BAN7 is experimenting with a new approach to curating that highlights collaborations with our region's artists and arts organizations and pushes beyond presentation toward a multidisciplinary celebration of the diversity of artistic practices in the Bay Area.

BAN7's core idea is to decentralize the curatorial process, and centralize the public presentation of some of the most exciting artistic voices in the region today.

Way Out West

July 7 - August 17, 2014

Venue
Mission District

Location
San Francisco, CA

Three Creativity Explored artists (Andrew Li, John Patrick McKenzie, and Kate Thompson) are included in The Art City Project's first public art exhibition, Way Out West.

The exhibition repurposes outdoor advertising space in San Francisco’s Inner Mission to turn the neighborhood into a public art gallery for six weeks. Way Out West is the pilot experience, purposefully launching in a city with a rich history of acceptance and tolerance for new and provocative ideas.

Curated by Tova Lobatz and Jenny Sharaf, the month-long exhibition will span billboards, transit shelters, and bus takeovers by artists exploring the role of art in public spaces and news ways of embedding art in daily life.

The reception for Way Out West will be held at Heron Arts, where the original works and limited edition prints will be available for sale. The event is open to the public and is within walking distance from the artwork in Way Out West. All proceeds from ticket sales will support public art through the Art City Project and its fiscal sponsor, Intersection for the Arts.

Featured artists: Andrew Li, John Patrick McKenzie, and Kate Thompson.

Gordon Chin and Beth Zmerzlikar join six other American artists whose work is exhibited in Yerevan 2012.

Representatives from the Department of States' office of Art in Embassies (AIE) program selected two artists from Creativity Explored to be represented in its three-year exhibition at the Yerevan Embassy in Armenia. Congratulations to Beth Zmerzlikar and Gordon Chin for this unique honor.

AIE was established by the Museum of Modern Art in 1953, and formalized as part of the Department of State by the Kennedy administration in 1963. AIE is one of the United States’ premier public-private partnership arts organizations, with over 20,000 individual and institutional participants, and a presence in some 200 venues within 189 countries worldwide. AIE furthers U.S. diplomacy through the power of the visual arts by expansive international cultural exchange initiatives.

AIE’s exhibitions allow foreign citizens, many of whom might never travel to the United States, to personally experience the depth and breadth of our artistic heritage and values.
