Yukari Sakura poses with her Magis Puppies during the event

Inspired By at Herman Miller Showroom recap

Posted on September 19, 2018

Our partnerships with the San Francisco design community were celebrated during our second annual pop-up shopping event at Herman Miller showroom on September 13, 2018. The event was billed as Herman Miller showroom’s “most talked about event” in 2017, and this year many more wonderful memories were made. The event was so popular last year, it was opened up to the public, which more than doubled the attendance and the fun!

The night was filled with smiles and laughter--the positive energy was visceral, and the beautiful showroom was overflowing with love! CE artists and supporters were welcomed into the renowned Herman Miller showroom and had a blast bumping elbows with the design community. Many of the attendees were former Art Services clients, looking for even more CE artwork to display in their home or office. The first fifty guests were offered up an epic swag bag filled with goodies from all of our partners as well as a limited edition black and gold enamel pin, featuring a floral silhouette design by Elana Cooper.

Over the past few months, the CE studios were filled with designer objects and furniture donated by our partners at Herman Miller and Design Within Reach Contract. CE artists adorned the designer products with original artwork, inspiring designers and art lovers alike to curate their home with one-of-a-kind functional and decorative art objects. Our artists even got a chance to tour the showroom back in April to get inspired by Herman Miller designs in preparation for making artwork for the event.

CE artists created nearly 30 art pillows in partnership with Maharam, Kay Chesterfield, and Cushion Works. The pillows were displayed throughout the showroom on the incredible Herman Miller furniture and adorned with tags proclaiming the objects “100% art” with friendly user instructions to ensure their proper care.

Throughout the evening guests explored the showroom, enjoying the framed original artwork and shopping the displays of art objects, ceramics, digital prints, and Creativity Explored products. Attendees and CE artists got a chance to share what inspires them on the massive post-it wall in the elevator lobby.

Guests sampled the new Musical Jamboree Burnt Caramel Truffles available at Recchiuti Confections and emblazoned with artwork by Kate Thompson. Isaac Haney-Owens, who created two pillows for the event, addressed the crowd with Executive Director Linda Johnson and spoke about his experiences as a CE artist, explaining how the studio program offers him the opportunity to be seen, celebrated, and recognized as an artist.

CE artist Pablo Calderon showcased his masterful painting skills and created an original painting during the event that was part of a silent auction. Makeya Kaiser was elated to find out that all three of her pieces included at the event were sold! The Magis Puppies adorned by Yukari Sakura and an Eames chair painted by Kaocrew “Yah” Kakabutra were main features at the event, adored by all.

If you couldn’t make the event some of the unique designer products were held back and will be available for purchase during the upcoming Holiday Art Shop, running November 29 to December 31, 2018, at the CE gallery. If you missed out on the limited edition black and gold pins by Elana Cooper, don’t fret! We have three unique floral silhouette enamel pin designs in a trendy color palette available on the webstore--collect them all!

And finally, all of us at Creativity Explored would like to extend our gratitude and thanks to all of our partners who helped make this event a huge success!
