We are pleased to announce that Creativity Explored artists John Patrick McKenzie and Mary Belknap were among the group of Bay Area artists nominated to apply for SFMOMA’s prestigious SECA Art Award. Selected by members of the Society for the Encouragement of Contemporary Art (SECA), nominees are recognized for their innovation, talent, and potential to gain increased institutional recognition.
The SECA Art Award nomination is a particularly significant honor for CE artists because it exemplifies the acceptance and popularity of their work within the art profession. Although McKenzie and Belknap were not selected for the second round of entries, Zarouhie Abdalian, former CE substitue visual art instructor and California College of the Arts student fellow, and Chris Sollars, long time CE friend, are two of the twelve finalists who will go on to compete for the coveted award.
Congratulations to all of these members of the CE community, and best of luck to Abdalian and Sollars!
