Three artworks by Creativity Explored artists Laron Bickerstaff, Alan Ku, and Merna Lum, were selected for CB2's limited edition Winter 2015 product line.
Laron Bickerstaff's Love pillow feaures his popular artwork that investigates the visual characteristics of language. Bickerstaff is deaf and communicates with American Sign Language. His typographic artwork mixes thoughts, observation and his fascination with pop culture, rendered as a bold expression of text and color. In this work, the signs and letters for L-O-V-E are illustrated on a field of bright orange.
Alan Ku's Hong Kong pillow brings this city's spectacular skyline to life. Ku reinterprets images from art history to create his own unique visions. Working in a variety of media, including watercolor and oil pastel on paper, the Hong Kong native renders meticulous and graphic scenes that offer an unusual view of people's relationships with each other and their surroundings.
Merna Lum's Two Birds pillow renders Lum's feathered friends on clean white 100% cotton. Lum creates art that celebrates her love of nature, gravitating toward plant and animal subjects. She is sight impaired and must work within inches of her art-making surface. This close proximity to her work allows Lum to be an intensely focused artist, often unaware of the chaotic activity in the studio around her.
