Posted on December 17, 2014

CE is thrilled to announce an exciting 2015 exhibition schedule!

Daniel Green: Days of Our Lives
January 15 – March 4, 2015
Curated by Eric Larson

Creativity Explored announces the first solo exhibition of work by San Francisco native Daniel Green, titled Days of Our Lives. Green (b.1985) joined the studio on a full-time basis in 2008 and is one of the youngest artists working at Creativity Explored.

Green methodically indexes his everyday life, American entertainment, and popular culture by drawing with ink on wood, cardboard, and paper. Several themes emerge in the body of work that will be on view like personal references, celebrities, film, music, game shows, video games, sports, and historical figures.

Tree of Life
March 12 - April 22, 2015
Curated by Pam Berry and Lani Asher

Tree of Life is a group exhibition that celebrates the rich cultural diversity at Creativity Explored. The title of the show references the universal image of the Tree of Life, which manifests in folklore, mythology, and world religions. A powerful symbol of growth and unity, the exhibition draws on visual representations of trees to exemplify and foster harmony among the CE studio community.

In a prelude to the exhibition, join us for a one day workshop on the Tree of Life on Saturday, January 24, 1:00 to 4:00 pm.

Participating artists: Stella Tse, Doris Yen and several others.

Super Contemporary
April 30 - June 17, 2015
Guest Curated by Jenny Sharaf

Super Contemporary, organized by guest curator and artist Jenny Sharaf, celebrates abstraction, language of color, shape, and form. Included will be works by ten artists; five Creativity Explored studio artists paired with five guest artists from the Bay Area who are contemporaries both within the art world, as well as in their passion for expressive color artwork.

Participating artists: Maria Berrios + Sahar Khoury; Eva Jun + Jenny Sharaf; Taneya Lovelace + Alicia McCarthy; Evelyn Reyes + Sarah Thibault; Kaocrew "Yah" Kakabutra + Maysha Mohamedi.

DOTS & DASHES: Another Morse Code
June 25 – August 5, 2014
Curated by E. Francis Kohler

DOTS & DASHES: Another Morse Code is a two-person exhibition of work by Linda Davenport and Richard Wright. Emphasizing the formal rather than the thematic, Davenport and Wright produce work, concurrently but independently of one another, with primary elements composed almost entirely of dots and dashes.

Using jute, thread, fabric, and embroidery floss, Davenport stitches together dizzying freeform textiles that resemble kaleidoscopic circuit boards. In contrast, Wrights’ work is exclusively figurative, yet the technique he uses to create various multicolored animals and creatures on paper plainly echo the dots and dashes present in Davenport’s elaborate fabric creations.

Forte
August 13 - September 30, 2015
Curated by Amy Taub

Creativity Explored artists transform sheet music into a visual language of pattern and mark making.

Participating artists: Pancho Cruz, Taneya Lovelace, José Nuñez, Bertha Otoya, Selene Perez, Hung Kei Shiu, Ana Marie Vidalon, and several others.

Dance Party!
October 8 - November 22, 2015
Curated by Leeza Doreian and Mara Poliak

The group exhibition Dance Party! aims to capture the spirit and visual culture surrounding dance as a social activity. Creativity Explored artists visually interpret dance as a communal experience at the studio, at other centers such as the Arc, in television, movies, and YouTube. Dance Party! reveals the desires, aspirations, and relationships involved in the social arena of artistic movement.

Participating artists: to be determined
