Suet Fun Owyoung

Suet Fun Owyoung was born in 1972 in China. She created artwork at Creativity Explored from 2005 until 2007.

Because Owyoung spoke only Cantonese, her artwork serves as a chief mode of communication with her English-speaking artistic community. The majority of Owyoung’s art was a combination of text and images. She deftly incorporated Chinese calligraphy into landscapes and figurative scenes, as well as abstract color fields.

Over time, Owoung’s artwork became increasingly fluid, expressive, and larger in scale. The delicacy of her line always played against the broad washes of color in the background of her paintings, for a serene balancing effect.
