Richard Wright

Richard Wright (b. 1955, San Francisco, CA) is a San Francisco native joining the Creativity Explored studio in 2012. In his early years he, like many children, began his tentative artistic explorations with the common coloring book. Upon entering high school, Wright's creative options expanded considerably once he had the opportunity to experiment with painting, drawing, and sculpture and soon began to think of himself as an artist.

Wright majored in General Education at San Francisco City College, taking required classes like math, history and writing while also continuing his art studies through figure drawing (people and animals) and woodshop courses.

After graduating, Wright continued making art at home, drawing cars, aliens, and monsters. Moving from fairly simple stick figures with unembellished features to detailed and multi-textured renditions of self-created imaginary creatures, ancient masks, and monsters from the world of film, Wright has honed (or re-honed) his drawing skills remarkably quickly since joining Creativity Explored in April 2012.

Wright's work was selected for a two-person exhibition titled DOTS & DASHES: Another Morse Code in 2015 with fellow artist Linda Davenport. Wright’s artwork Exotic Alphabet, 2014, acrylic on canvas, 78 x 96 inches was the featured artwork in the CE exhibition StereoTYPE in 2014. Also, his work was included in Streetopia, at the Luggage Store Gallery, San Francisco, CA in 2012.
