Born in Illinois in 1973, Mignon Wilson has been making art at Creativity Explored since 1998.
Elements like attention to color, repetitive patterns, and an overarching grid system, are central to Wilson’s artwork. She prefers to work in layers of ink and colored pencil, starting by drawing a grid over a colored board. Her networks of colored squares and rectangles lend themselves to depictions of individual buildings and cityscapes. Wilson often adds wavy lines to the grid to allow for the incorporation of organic elements like trees and flowers.
An active woman with a quick wit and contagious laugh, Wilson is an enjoyable presence in the studio. Some of her many other interests include, dancing, drama, basketball, and weightlifting.
