Born in 1965, Marcus Cortez is a San Francisco native. He created art in our studio from 2000 through 2007.
Cortez’s passion for motorcycles, cars, and airplanes is evident in his brightly colored street scenes. Often his compositions center around a single meticulously drawn motorcycle elongated to fill the picture plane. Aside from vehicle subject matter, heavy lines, localized color, and pattern characterize Cortez’s’ artwork. According to Cortez, acrylic is his favorite medium because it allows for the most color options. He is known for creativity with color, even painting a pink motorcycle for a past Creativity Explored exhibition, which was used for a limited edition t-shirt.
