Kevin Roach

A San Francisco native born in 1957, Kevin Roach lives in the Sunset District and has been a studio artist at Creativity Explored since 2004.

Roach’s artwork is representational and very iconic, and his clean compositions often contain simplified figures and landscapes. A meticulous artist, Roach carefully plans each piece before he begins, and is extremely focused within the commotion and noise of the studio setting.

Colored pencil, watercolor, textiles, ceramics, wood, and acrylics are just some of the various media Roach employs in his artwork. He recently collaborated with other CE artists to produce large paintings and a quilt. This versatile and enthusiastic artist is always eager to test out new techniques, improve his skills, and says he wants “to learn more about art through books to get more ideas.” He counts Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera as major inspirations — their art “makes [him] come alive”.
