Douglas Sheran

Douglas Sheran was born in California in 1941. Douglas worked in our studios until mid-2008.

Sheran has periods when he is a prolific artist, creating many pieces of art in a week. His subject matter is typically figures or animals. He enjoys working in pencil, ink, pastels, acrylics, watercolors, and ceramics. Sheran makes a banjo type noise or song throughout the day while working. His song was captured in an animated work that combined his ink drawings with his melodic hum. Sheran’s drawings capture the strength and essence of the subject rather than the minute detail. He is able to employ a few lyrical lines to convey form and movement.

CB2, one of our community arts partners, chose Sheran’s drawing of a bird to embellish a pillow that they produced in 2010.
