Since joining the Creativity Explored studio in 2014, Corine Raper (b. 1992) has focused on abstract works on paper. Whether using pastel or paint, the emphasis of Raper's work is to capture the energy of her movement.
For Raper the gesture is what is important. Taping the paper down enables her to draw or paint with both hands. Drawing or painting gestural lines, marks, shapes, Raper approaches each paper with a focused intensity. Playing with composition and density of color, Raper's gestural abstract work concentrates on the process of art making.
