Betty Benard was born in 1935 in Galveston, Texas. She has been creating art in the Creativity Explored studio since 1991 and likes to work in acrylic, mixed media, watercolor, colored pencil, and paper collage.
Benard is a very versatile artist who usually works from memory or her imagination. She comes from a large family and enjoys depicting family gatherings — houses filled to overflowing with people and flowers. She enjoys working both figuratively and abstractly. Most recently, she has been combining paints and origami paper and making bold, striking collages. Benard has exhibited frequently throughout the Bay Area and has shown work in Japan.
Betty says she has always liked to make art. According to Betty, everyone has always told her that she is good at it, but she “doesn’t give it too much thought.”
