Allura Fong was born in San Francisco in 1974 and continues to live in the city with her family. She has been an artist in the Creativity Explored 2 studio since 1996.
Fong typically works with an assemblage process. She cuts out parts of her drawings and paintings and collages them together to create a colorful, expressive visage. The layering in Fong’s artwork produces a floating effect that adds to the dreamy quality of her subject matter of hearts and organic shapes. This collage process has developed into her current use of large scale photocopies. These photocopies are assembled into a grid that serves as a figurative base over which she uses various media to cover, or accent, certain areas, creating a powerful combination of abstraction and realism.
In 2003, Fong’s digital work was featured in a DVD compilation of animated shorts made in the Creativity Explored 2 studio.
