Yolanda Ramirez

Yolanda Ramirez was born in San Francisco in 1955 and has been a jovial and industrious presence in the Creativity Explored studio since 1990.

Ramirez works in a variety of media, often combining watercolor, pen, and colored pencil in her work. Her paintings and drawings are figurative, food and undersea creatures being two of Ramirez’s favored themes. Using fine lines and local saturated color, Yolanda depicts strange worlds populated by smiling lemons on wheels, mariachi bands, and forlorn mermaids with violins.

When not painting, Ramirez’s fingers are busy knitting brightly striped scarves. In a recent self-portrait, she represented herself with accurate simplicity, the only adornments being her glasses and a trademark scarf.
