Thu Mai Tieu

Thu Mai Tieu was born in Saigon, Vietnam in 1970 and immigrated to the United States in 1993. A few years later Tieu became a studio artist at Creativity Explored II.

Using pastels, colored pencils and acrylic on paper, Tieu creates non-figurative works rich with movement and texture. Organic forms spring across her large, multi-layered compositions and Tieu’s gesture and process is evident in the finished work. Layering different media allows her to create intense, nuanced colors, which brings much depth to her pieces.
