Pat Shepard

Pat Shepard was born in 1926 and was a gentle presence at Creativity Explored from 1992 through 2006.

Shepard was best known for her representations of cats with mischievous facial expressions. She typically used pencil to draw on wood, depicting cats with unfocused eyes, oversized heads, and very small bodies. Following the pencil, she meticulously added pastel or watercolor to complete the work. When working at CE, she had a great deal of patience and spent many days on each piece of artwork.

Shepard was also Circus Fan of America for a number of years and attends their annual summer conference. This love of the circus and of animals was clearly reflected in her choice of subject matter and use of saturated color.
