Hector Lopez

A San Francisco native, Hector Lopez was born in 1968. While Lopez says he has been making art since he was a boy, he joined the Creativity Explored studio in 2006.

Lopez’s large landscapes and portraits are colorful and dynamic, reflecting this artist’s gregarious personality. Using a palette of fiery reds, yellows, and violets, He prefers to paint on pieces of wood. Lopez completed a series of autobuses in this medium, depicting buses so large they fill the picture plane and contain multitudes of people behind their windows. In 2009, he has been fascinated by horses and has created a series of caballos, again working on wood.

As is clear from his well-populated artwork, Lopez relishes the crowded, bustling studio atmosphere of Creativity Explored. He says he loves working here because he is surrounded by amigos.
