David Fellom

David Fellom is a San Francisco native born in 1955. He joined Creativity Explored in 2007.

Fellom mainly creates drawings and paintings from his imagination. He is interested both in the human figure as well as houses and modes of transportation: buses, vans, airplanes, and cars. Fellom begins by creating a series of drawings that are outlined in black permanent marker. He simplifies the subject into intersecting shapes, which sometimes appear abstract. Afterwards, Fellom methodically fills in these shapes with flat areas of color.

Fellom says that Creativity Explored is the “best thing that’s ever happened” to him, and enjoys creating artwork because the process is soothing. Since beginning his work at Creativity Explored, Fellom’s compositions have become more complex. He now includes several objects or characters in one work, and sometimes adds text to relate the work to his own experience.
