Andrew Bixler

A San Francisco native, Andrew Bixler was born in 1981 and has been making artwork at Creativity Explored since 2006. Bixler commutes to the studio from his apartment on Treasure Island.

Bixler’s artwork is entirely figurative, mostly colored pencil drawings depicting willowy people with penetrating gazes, sometimes accompanied by a brief narrative. His loose lines lend motion and an expressive quality to the drawings. He has turned his attention to sculpture recently, and has made beautiful renderings of animals and creatures using wire, fabric, and found objects. Bixler has been making art since childhood but enjoys now being a part of the communal studio at CE because he says he gets good feedback from other artists.

In addition to visual arts, he spends time playing piano and clarinet. Of his musical ability, Bixler says, “I’m not a master, but I get by.”
