Gilles Combet is a visual artist who grew up mainly in London and Paris. After dropping out of high school, becoming a roof carpenter, traveling extensively in Europe and Africa, and finally dancing professionally for 10 years, he went back to his first passions: drawing and painting, which he has been practicing for the last 15 years. Gilles has taught high school students with special needs in San Francisco, shown his work in a number of venues around the Bay Area, worked as a graphic designer, and received a BA in multimedia and web design at the University of Marseille in France. After returning to San Francisco, he started working as an art instructor at Creativity Explored in 2005.
“Working with the artists of CE has had an incredible impact on my own work; it’s been an ongoing yet informal collaboration where every new idea seems to generate the most amazing results. This a place where ‘teachers’ and ‘students’ play an endless game of ball where everybody seems to always win.”
