Bessie Kunath was hired by Creativity Explored in December of 2008 as the Framer & Exhibition Preparator. She is originally from Orange County, and moved to San Francisco in 1999. Bessie has been an active member of the Bay Area art community since graduating from the University of San Francisco and the California College of the Arts in 2003.
Like most CE employees, Bessie is also an artist. She makes the majority of her assemblages and sculptures in the comfort of her studio located in the Blue Studios. Her professional experience includes arts administration, curatorial endeavors, art education, and art installation. She has worked at various art institutions including the Oakland Art Museum, Mills College Art Museum, the Hammer Museum, the De Saisset Museum, the Linearis Institute, SF Recycling and Disposal Inc. artist-in-residence program (a.k.a. “the dump”), and for the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, where she assisted with the 2009 SECA Award.
