Amanda Eicher
Visual Arts Instructor

Amanda Eicher is a San Francisco-based artist. Her work engages food, dialogue, writing, and textiles to investigate the roles artists play in development processes, the ways groups engage in creative thinking, and the intersections between traditional community-based art and social practice.

In 1999 Amanda moved to the Bay Area, where she has lived ever since. Many of Amanda's acquaintances with artists at Creativity Explored were made in 2001 when she worked with bookstore owner Andrew McKinley to build and curate the Back Room Gallery at Adobe Books. The artists from CE often visited the bookshop on their lunch breaks and after studio hours. Their expertise on art and life in general made a sufficient impression on Amanda to motivate her to work with a similar studio, NIAD Art Center, in her neighborhood in Richmond, California beginning in 2014. After becoming NIAD’s Studio Manager in 2015, Eicher had the good fortune to move to San Francisco, and the even better luck to join the studio at CE shortly thereafter.

Amanda has lived and worked in the Bay Area, El Salvador, Guatemala, Kyrgyzstan, Cameroon, Rwanda, and Sweden, and her work has been exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale, SFMOMA, YBCA, Di Rosa, BAM/PFA, Headlands Center for the Arts, Botkyrka Konsthall, Bishkek Contemporary Arts Center, and recently, as a part of the staff exhibition Trading Spaces at Creativity Explored.
